Unsung talent

He has filled them with the skill to do all kinds of work as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers—all of them skilled workers and designers.

Meet Givean Thomu

Would you believe that the artwork displayed here is done by a young man who holds the painting brush with his mouth! The young man who does this artwork has no hands to trouble him, yet he stands among us as a vivid personification of full self-expression in the face of physical limitations.

At the age of 12, Givean discovered his talent and passion for painting. He did not let being “armless” disarm him. Rather, he learnt to hold the paintbrush with his mouth. Thus, defying the commonly held belief that fine art is a product of dexterous hands.

Givean demonstrates that there is always a way to accomplish and achieve dreams as long as there is a will. He is both a challenge and an inspiration. He challenges us to develop a strong will and have a robust “WHY” that would propel us to full-expression and realization of our dreams even in the face of limitations and adversities.
